Goodbye farting co-worker, hello taiwan co-worker...
So my farting co-worker has taken off for her maternity leave, so not sure how interesting my blog postings will be for the next month are so... In her place, one of my colleagues from our Taipei office will be filling in, and he will be staying here for about a month or so... Being that he was here for a few weeks at the beginning of the year, and I have some interesting stories about him from back then, I am sure that he will fit my blog entries nicely... :D he he he... we'll see...

I gotta listen to my fans
So I have heard through a few of my fans that they don't particularly care for my new re-design, so over the next few days (or weeks or months or years) I will be working on restructuring according to the way they would prefer to see it. Keep an eye out for a newly designed site soon.

OOPS!!!
Man...
Sometimes it might be better to just run a blog off a hosted service... Tried to do some more customizations on the tech.mchiu.com site since it was having problems with the comments section, and ended up destroying it... Hopefully I can get it back online soon, and hopefully will also be able to salvage the posts that were once there... *sigh* I guess I still got a lot to learn...
*** Correction ***
So tech.mchiu.com is back up, and it wasn't really down... but now, in the process of trying to correct the errors, I accidentally moved files into the wrong directory, and have somehow messed up blog.mchiu.com's templates... *sigh*

New design, new website, new network of blogs...
As you can already figure out, I have decided to make a few changes to my website. First, there is a new splash page that shows the most recent feeds of different blog sites within the mchiu.com realm. Which brings us to the next new thing, being that there is now tech.mchiu.com, anonymous.mchiu.com, and forum.mchiu.com.
tech.mchiu.com was created because I realized that I was finding a lot of cool and interesting things in the tech world, and decided to dedicate an entire blog around it. More importantly, by myself, I know that I probably see only a very small part of the tech world, and am looking for guest bloggers to post whatever they see that looks interesting. If anyone is interested, let me know, and I can add you on as a guest blogger.
anonymous.mchiu.com was created because of a few friends who wanted to post interesting things about their lives, but do so in an anonymous fashion. I have just created one anonymous account, so even I do not know specifically which of my friends is posting, so it will be interesting for me too, to see what my friends are up to, and what kinds of ballsy statements they will make while remaining totally anonymous.
Finally, forum.mchiu.com is the resurrection of the forum site I had running earlier. Hopefully, it will live longer than the 2 weeks I had it running earlier before tearing it down when I upgraded my hosting service... :D
In any case, take a look around, and I hope you enjoy the new blogs... I am still working on making them easier to navigate, so check back often to see the improvements! :D

Update
Sorry for the delay in updates lately. I have been working on setting up a new blog software using Movable Type, and have been migrating the posts on mchiu.com to this new blogging software. It will be up and running in a few days, so this will be my last blog posting that is hosted by blogger.com.
Blogger.com is a good service, and it was a good starting point for me to get blogging, but now with the Movable Type software, I am able to do a few other things, as well as have better control over customization of the site.
I will be working out the last few kinks in the new blog site, and the new mchiu.com should be going live over the next several days, and hopefully beating the 2-3 year delay of version 2.0 of the poolshark.com webpage. :-p

Another Murphy's Law Type of Day...
Just about anything that could go wrong, did go wrong today... Boy did it suck being me today...
Woke up this morning, and did my morning ritual of getting ready for work, only to find out that I had forgotten to pack my gym bag last night, so quickly rushed to get everything into the bag and head out. Wanted to eat quickly, but with the pain in my mouth, it took me forever to eat, and by the time I got to the gym, only had about 30 mins for a quick jog, shower, and get dressed... So just my luck, after my short 20 minutes on the treadmill and 3 minute shower, as I was getting dressed, I realized that I had forgotten to pack my belt, so my pants keep slipping today... Yikes! I'm running late to my doctor's appointment!!! Used residential backroads instead to cut over to the main road to get me onto the freeway, only to get stuck in a huge line of cars in front of an elementary school... Thought they were all dropping off their kids, so tried to drive around, until some nasty bitch who probably was also having a bad day, or maybe a schoolteacher with a stick up her ass, came running out yelling at me telling me that it's a line of cars, and I had to wait in line too... To make things look idiotic, I get back into line, wait 2 car lengths, and then pull into a driveway across the street, get out, and look across the street to the bitch, and give her this stare... She turns her back and walks back into the school, and then I take off going the opposite direction. Finally make it to the freeway entrance, only to be stuck in yet another line of cars waiting for the metering lights to get onto the freeway... 10 cars later, I'm off! woo hoo!!! All of a sudden, traffic slows to a crawl... my friend later told me that there was an accident further up the 85, and traffic was backed up about 6-7 exits... Luckily, I got caught towards the middle, otherwise, it would have taken a lot longer to get off the freeway. Make it to the doctor's office 5-10 minutes late, but had to wait forever for my appointment because they somehow got my appointment mixed up. The only good news for the day: The doctor tells me that I am healing up pretty well, and my mouth should be back in order in no time. Now back to the bad stuff... So she's asking if I still feel any numbness, and I tell her that the right side of my lower lip is still a little tingly, as is the tip of my tongue. She pulls out this metallic thing with sharp edges on it, and starts poking around my lip... Can you feel this? No. Then goes lower to my chin, how about this? OW! Yes, I can feel it... Asks me to open my mouth wide, but I can barely open it since it's still in pain... she tries to open it manually... OW!!! Finally get out of there, and have 10 minutes to get to work on time... needless to say, I was about 10 minutes late in getting there...
The second I get into the office, everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off!!! THE NETWORK IS DOWN!!! THE NETWORK IS DOWN!!! WE CAN'T PRINT!!! WE CAN'T GET ONLINE!!! WHERE'S OUR EMAIL???? Apparently, since I left last Friday until today, the network has been extremely tempremental. My first instinct is to reset all the servers, routers, etc. in the office. Nope, that didn't work... Maybe it's a worm in the network? Realized that several people in the office haven't done virus scans for the last several months... Make everyone do a virus scan... Nope... no viruses... By this time, everyone in the office is an IT expert... You should try to isolate the problem (yup... been doing that) Don't use the wireless router (Why? But I already went that route anyway) It's because you changed our hosting providing last week (Well, first of all, you told me to do that b/c you got pissed off that you couldn't access from China, second, how does changing our hosting provider have anything to do with our internal network?) Kept working at, and finally decided to enter myself into call center hell, and was on-hold to be served in the order the call was received due to a high volume of caller traffic. Still working on the problem while on-hold (for 45 minutes) and decided to pull out the cable connecting the DSL router to the switch, and replace with another cable... Interesting... now everything is stable... put back the original cable... interesting, everything is still stable! WTF??? Don't question it... it just works...
Whew! Hope that will be the end of the problems for the day... It is now 3:30 pm... Nope... Found out that while working under the influence of laughing gas last friday, I messed up on the switch of the hosting providers... It never happened... Call up Network Solutions for help... At least the wait time was only 5 minutes... The guy figured out that I somehow have 2 accounts open, so I would need to merge the accounts together. Fairly painless procedure, but took me a while to find the info on the other account. Finally done!!! And now it's 4:45 pm!!!
Man... what a waste of a day!!! Oh well... hopefully nothing else will go wrong... *knocking on wood*
***ADDENDUM***
To make things worse... I end up spending 3 hours in a conference call, of which I am required to attend every week, but contribute virtually very little, if anything at all. Afterwards, I spent another hour migrating our hosting providers... WAH! Ok... done whining for now...

OW!!! I WANNA BE SEDATED!!!
Just had my two lower wisdom teeth removed yesterday, and now I just want to be heavily sedated... bah-bah-baaah, ba-bah-bah.... I WANNA BE SEDATED!!!
So I went in thinking that my lower left was going to be taken out, but upon closer examination, the doctor felt it better to take both lower wisdom teeth out. So I had to watch this 10 minute video explaining to me the risks of the operation, and then take a bunch of x-rays of my mouth before and after the operation. I guess the funnest part for me was the laughing gas... They just lowered the mask over my face, and then put on headphones so I wouldn't have to hear the sounds of my teeth getting ripped out of my face. It wasn't too painful, especially since the laughing gas was keeping me high, but there were times when it got a little painful... My cousin was watching the whole procedure (since he is a dentist himself) and later told me that when they took out my right wisdom tooth, he could actually see the nerve down there, and that when the doctor started cleaning it out with water and air, that's why it hurt so much for me... Yikes! I have a nerve that is exposed!!! :O :O :O
So afterwards, I went back to the office, worked a little, but then, all of a sudden, I got really sleepy and tired, so I had to get back home before I wouldn't be able to drive myself home... From that point on, I was pretty much stuck in my bed... 3:30 pm until my parents forced me to eat something around 9 pm... then I talked to my cousin over the phone for a bit, and another friend, and I was back into my bed again, half sleeping, half IMing...
It is now over 24 hours since I had the operation, I have been sleeping continously for the last 20 hours or so, and my mouth isn't feeling too much better than it was yesterday... but at least I got lots of vicodin... :D
