Dining with the travelling hungry boy...
For those of you who have not checked out my friend, Bryan's blog, The Travelling Hungryboy, he has a great blog about his cullinary experiences abroad and even on planes! So when he was living out here in the Bay Area, we used to frequent a Japanese izakaya called "Tanto" every week for about 6 months. Literally... we did go there every single week for that period of time, and we could be the reason why they expanded to open up a restaurant in San Francisco and Santa Clara.
So tonight, we will be dining at Gochi, a new izakaya that opened up in the old location of the Peacock Lounge where Bryan got me piss-ass drunk off Jagermeister on my 30th birthday. I am assuming that he will be blogging about this restaurant, and more importantly, the izaakaya was opened by the head chef of Tanto, so I am sure that Bryan will be pretty impressed with the food. Stay tuned the Travelling Hungryboy blog to see what he has to say! :D

Howard Stern critic who seems a bit more reasonable...
If you have been listening to Howard Stern over the past few years, you can understand his frustrations with the FCC and the religious right for constantly coming after him for his "indecent" material, and understandably so since he can't even air his older material without getting censored. So while reading this article about statements made by Morality in Media president Robert Peters who wants the satellite radio waves to be regulated as well, I was thinking to myself, "Oh brother... why don't these people just get a life and stop worrying about content that we pay to hear?", but he does make a good point that I think could be a good compromise
Sirius should, Peters feels, offer Stern's show outside the satellite radio company's normal programming package so subscribers would have to ask to receive the show, even if they don't have to pay an extra fee.
Also, from Howard's last broadcast on regular radio, during his address to his fans, I think the best line that got me ROTFL was
And I don't think this ride is over yet. Let the freedom bell be rung, and let it be rung by a stripper!
Talk about rallying the troops and putting some humor into it!
As long as I don't have to pay that extra fee, I'm fine with that...

Dave Chappelle Theory
My friend Jerry forwarded this interesting piece on the fall of Dave Chappelle. After reading through a lengthy conspiracy theory story, I am not sure whether to believe it or not. The people involved seem like people capable of pulling off a stunt like this, so I guess it is somewhat believable, but at the same time, while reading through it, I kept waiting for a punch line, or at least for a message that said something like "HA HA! I gotcha bitch!" Looks like more updates will be on their way, so maybe that message will be coming, but still, a very interesting read. Enjoy! :D

How to eat sushi
After reading Bryan's blog, The Travelling Hungryboy, I started looking for other food sites.
This video highlights the proper etiquette of eating sushi. Although it is in Japanese, there are English subtitles at the bottom for you to understand. The mysteries of ordering at a sushi restaurant are now revealed. Enjoy! :D

Finally moved everything over...
Welcome to the new redesign of the website, hosted at a new location, webhostingbuzz.com. I am still working out a few technical difficulties, but most everything should be working now, or within the next few days as the DNS servers align themselves. Let me know what you think of the new design! :DPosted by mchiu at 04:09 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Xbox 360 launch in Japan
In the land of gameboys and playstations, it seems that they are not so welcoming of foreigners. Looks like the Xbox 360's launch in Japan did not do so well, and there are still plenty in stock over there. As the hottest toy for this xmas season, I think we now all know where to get one in case we haven't bought one yet.Posted by mchiu at 09:33 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
$800 for a picture of the Xbox 360
It looks like some ebayer got scammed into paying over $800 for a picture of an Xbox 360. Looking at the ad copy in the ebay auction, at the very end of the description, it did mention that you are bidding on a picture of the 360, and not on the actual 360. In this case, I don't know who to laugh at more. The person who actually put up the auction, the people who bid this up so high, or the sucker who won the auction?Posted by mchiu at 09:28 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
Farewell to a true pioneer of comedy
As we all know by now, Richard Pryor has passed away earlier this weekend, suffering from a heart attack. I feel him to be a true pioneer in the world of comedy inspiring the likes of great comedians such as Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, etc., by introducing a way to inject social commentary into humor that allowed him to bash issues such as racism, but still make it entertaining enough for the rest of us to laugh about. Although he has passed away, I am sure that his legacy will live on...Posted by mchiu at 08:41 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Virtual Hugs from Singapore
This article reports on wearable devices that allows you to send a virtual hug to someone. Developed by none other, than those crazy Singaporeans, it is meant for children to receive hugs when their parents are away on business. Those Sings are already pretty fucked up as it is, but when the parents now feel like they can substitute their presence with a virtual hug, I really question how this next generation of Singaporeans will turn out....Posted by mchiu at 05:47 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

A thought about wearable MP3 players
Now that I am pretty much wearing my iRiver N11 all the time, no matter where I go, the music follows me. When I was visiting New York, I noticed a lot of people walking on the streets were sporting their ear buds as they shuffle from one place to the next. Of course, in a big city like NYC, I can see that being something that would make sense, but over here in the Silicon Valley, I don't see people doing that as much...
Then... one day when I was watching an episode of the Family Guy, I remembered an episode where Peter had his own theme music, and whenever he walked around, the music would play. Which made me think how interesting it would be if I could attach some really tiny speakers onto my iRiver, and have my own theme music being played whenever I walked down the street. I guess the unit would be a lot bigger and take up more batteries since it would have to start whenever it detected motion, and then stop whenever I stopped walking, sat down, etc. But I think it would be pretty funny thing to do for a little while... :D
