Meeting the Woz
|
One of the biggest highlights of my week working at GDC 06 was to meet the Woz (aka Steve Wozniak aka the other Steve who co-founded Apple Computer). I can say that everything I have read about him in the press seems to be true. He seems like a very down-to-earth kind of guy, and was very humble... especially if you compare him to Jobs. He spent over an hour hanging out with us at the lounge for the Conference Associates, signing autographs and T-shirts, iPods, etc., as well as doing a lot of photo-ops. He was also going over different people's ideas with them for software or products that they wanted to talk to him about. In other words, I was very impressed with how he presented himself to the rest of us lowly volunteers at the show. When taking this picture, he asked me about my camera, and I told him that I liked it, and offered it to him to play around with after having our picture taken, but he was asking because he had the same one and wanted to see my opinion on it. (It's a Sony CyberShot T7 btw). I told him that the only problem I had with it was that since it's a Sony, it uses the Memory Stick, which makes it annoying since it's not compatible with any of the other products that I own (other than the PSP). Talking to the other CAs, especially the younger ones, was interesting since some had no idea who The Woz is, and others knew he was a co-founder of Apple Computer, but the significance of meeting him was over their heads... he he he.. guess it's a generational gap...
